By working in the field of advertising and public relations, I completely understand the importance of promotion. However, when focusing on building your empire; whatever that may be, there’s essentially no time to talk about it because you’re fully engrossed in the tunnel vision mode.
Often, we release what’s premature and flop before God can properly orchestrate His will to make it our best. What’s the rush? Is it to let everyone know that you’re “busy making moves” or “doing more than what they think you are?” Greatness takes time, and nothing is built over night. Promotion is a great segue for ideas and plans; however, as with anything, there's always a special time to do so. When you're on social media constantly promoting everything you have planned or future next steps, ask yourself, “What are my intentions?” Proverbs 14:23 says, "All hard work brings profit, but mere talk only leads to poverty." Your best moves will be silenced and unpublicized - you'll know when it's the right time to share.
Think about how Beyoncé suddenly drops a new album on us – We usually don’t even see it coming! She’s not on social prepping us for the release because she’s too busy perfecting her art prior to the launch. Now of course, Beyoncé is on a completely different level of mastery, but the overall gist is that she doesn’t pre-maturely launch what isn’t ready yet. We must learn to behave in the same manner as well, and that’s dealing with anything in life. For example, a person doesn’t announce they've been accepted into a prestigious program or promoted until they've received the official letter, signed papers, etc. Don’t worry about what people think in regards to what you have going on in your life or the lack thereof; do your part and leave the rest for God to handle. Cliche, but #LetSuccessBeYourNoise.
This week, take the time to assess the real motives behind your actions and announcements. Figure out your "Why" and proceed with all projects in the spirit of excellence. When we honestly discern the motives behind our behaviors, that’s when we make a real step forward in growth.
