#LivingMyBestLife

Updated: Aug 14, 2018

Practicing the art of non-comparison in a world of constant perceived perfection.

Comparison is the thief of joy. I’m sure you’ve heard this phrase before. And, I must admit that it stands to be true. No matter who you are, we all have one thing in common and that’s the desire to accomplish something in life. Whether it be to land that dream job, purchase that first home, become an entrepreneur, graduate from college, etc., we all have dreams. Unfortunately, more often than not, the majority of people only remain at the dream stage, never advancing to the next level of greatness that they wish to obtain. This feeling of not doing enough and wallowing only in the dream leads to the counterproductive action of comparing.

In this era of social media, where EVERYONE is #LivingMyBestLife, we tend to look at our peers, family and friends and measure the life that they’re “living” on screen to our own – this can be extremely dangerous, my friends, and that's coming from a personal place of experience!

We compare others’ highlight reels to our realities without knowing the behind the scenes. Not saying every post you see isn’t transparent, but, honestly, you do not know the truth – and it’s not your business to know, either. The only thing you owe yourself is to walk and live in your truth. By living your truth, the wasted energy of comparing is transferred to productive energy of reaching your goals. Using that energy toward actually reaching your goals will help launch you from the dream stage into the action stage! As recently stated from the #QueenB herself, “I Ain’t Got No Time; Got that Dinero on My Mind” (#Shoutout to the new Everything Is Love album)! When you’re focused on moving upward in whatever phase of life you’re currently in, there’s no room for comparison because you’re in active movement.

This week, remember that you’re exactly where you need to be. Place your energy in moving forward and not spending time in comparison to others. Instead, look to others as motivation to turn your dreams into goals, goals into a plan and your plan into action.

Sending love and positive vibes your way!
