On this one particular morning getting ready for work, I was in a Super Great Mood! Considering that I'm a forced morning person by habit, it’s rare for the "super" to be in front of my great mood feeling. I was off into my zone because I made it through a challenging workout that morning, had time to cook breakfast and look over a few emails before hitting my daily route. It was going to be a busy day, so arriving to work a bit earlier than normal was going to start me off good. Shortly after leaving home and driving my normal route, I started to approach the freeway ramp and realized that it was all the way backed up with no signs of any movement. My super great mood quickly turned into super great annoyance. I had no other choice but to turn around and take another route; which was out of my way. The new route was going to set me behind schedule, and possibly run me late for work all together.
After finally making it onto the freeway in the new direction, I soon came to notice that it was clear, smooth flowing and minimum traffic. Things were actually looking up! Then it hit me that this small encounter represents life. When it comes to achieving our goals and hitting the mark, we want to do things the way we want to do them. We want to go in our preferred direction - following the paths of our mentors, influencers and peers. Nothing wrong with that; however, more than likely, our way may NOT be the way God wants to take us. His way may seem irritating, inconvenient and further behind our friends, but in actuality, it’s the best route for our lives.
Before anything wonderful manifests, we must first be pruned and prepared. You have to go through the process; there’s no other way around it #ITriedIt! Even though it may seem like others are arriving to the destination much quicker, you don’t know any of the extra hardships they had to endure to get there. God’s way will be clear, smooth flowing and no traffic. He already knows the future and wants to prevent us from dealing with those extra hardships. There's no short cuts with Him because He wants our successes to last long-term. Of course there will be hiccups along the way, but if it’s truly His will, you’ll get right back on track.
I made it to work without running late and didn’t have to sit in hours' worth of stand-still traffic #GodBeLookingOut. This week, learn to embrace your process; you’re moving quicker than you think!
Sending love and positive vibes your way! Yvonne Camille
